EMDR Therapy for Milton, GA Trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD Care Close to Home
Milton borders Alpharetta to the north, and Jeremy Fox provides EMDR therapy for trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD to Milton residents at his Alpharetta office or over secure video anywhere in Georgia. Authentic Answers does not have a Milton location, so sessions happen either at the Maxwell Rd office or online.
Driving Down from Milton
Authentic Answers is located at 314 Maxwell Rd, Suite 400, Alpharetta, GA 30009, in the Colony Park Offices on South Main. Birmingham Highway (GA-372) runs south through Crabapple into downtown Alpharetta, and Alpharetta Highway (GA-9) is the other way in from the eastern part of Milton.
Online sessions are also an option. They take place over a HIPAA-compliant video service, which means a quiet room at home can serve as your therapy space. Jeremy is happy to talk through the tradeoffs of office visits versus video with you.
What Milton Clients Bring to Therapy
No two trauma histories look alike. Yours might center on one moment, perhaps a serious accident, a hospital stay that went badly, or an attack. It might be something spread across years, such as growing up around volatility or neglect, or living under a partner's control, which clinicians often call Complex PTSD. Veterans, active-duty members, and their families can use Authentic Answers' in-network status with TRICARE.
You might be noticing things like these:
- Your sleep is broken by bad dreams, or certain sounds send you straight back
- You stay braced for something to go wrong, even when nothing is
- Patterns from your family of origin keep repeating in your adult life
- Someone you were close to hurt, deceived, or frightened you
- Traumatic grief after a sudden or difficult loss
- Chunks of time feel blurry, or you feel detached from yourself
A Closer Look at the EMDR Process
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing was designed specifically for traumatic stress and is named in the World Health Organization's treatment recommendations. In a reprocessing set, you hold part of a painful memory in awareness for a short time while your eyes follow a moving target or you notice tapping on alternating sides. The intent is for the memory to be reworked and stored with less distress attached. Jeremy covers the full method in his EMDR guide.
Before any memory work, Jeremy takes time to understand your background and what you hope will change. Then the focus moves to stabilization and practical skills for calming your body, a stretch that is intentionally longer for Complex PTSD. Reprocessing comes next, paced to what you can handle, followed by sessions that consolidate the changes. Nobody can promise how treatment will turn out, and Jeremy will give you a candid sense of what to expect.
Weekly sessions are the usual rhythm, though EMDR intensives offer extended sessions over one or more days for those who want another format.
Who You Would Be Working With
Jeremy Fox holds a Georgia LPC license and the CPCS supervisor credential, and he has worked with EMDR since 2014. EMDRIA recognizes him as both a Certified Therapist and an Approved Consultant, so part of his work is consulting with other EMDR therapists. He has an article in the Journal of EMDR Practice and Research, and his clinical focus is trauma, PTSD, Complex PTSD, and dissociation.
