EMDR Therapy for Canton, GA Trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD Care in Person or by Telehealth
Canton is in Cherokee County, northwest of Alpharetta, and Authentic Answers offers EMDR therapy for trauma, PTSD, and Complex PTSD to Canton residents both at the Alpharetta office and by secure video anywhere in Georgia. There is no office in Canton itself.
Routes from Canton
Sessions in person take place at 314 Maxwell Rd, Suite 400, Alpharetta, GA 30009, in the Colony Park Offices on South Main. One route is I-575 south to Woodstock, then GA-92 east toward Roswell and north on Alpharetta Highway (GA-9). GA-140 heading southeast out of Canton is another. Rush hour can lengthen either drive, so plan around it if you are scheduling near work hours.
With that distance in mind, video sessions may suit you. They run on a HIPAA-compliant platform and are open to anyone in Georgia, and you can mix formats, starting in the office and moving online or the reverse. Jeremy will help you sort out what works for your schedule.
Reasons to Consider Trauma Therapy
Trauma can come from a single overwhelming event, such as a wreck, a medical crisis, or violence. It can also build quietly over years in a household where you never felt secure, or in a relationship shaped by fear and control, which is often described as Complex PTSD. For service members, veterans, and military families, Authentic Answers participates in TRICARE as an in-network provider.
It may be time to reach out if you recognize any of these:
- Memories that intrude without warning, during the day or in dreams
- A jumpy, keyed-up feeling that rarely lets up
- Old wounds from childhood coloring how you treat yourself and others
- Lingering pain from abuse or betrayal by someone close
- Traumatic grief after a sudden or difficult loss
- Moments of checking out, feeling unreal, or going numb
EMDR, Step by Step
EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing. It is a structured psychotherapy for trauma that appears in World Health Organization guidance on treating stress-related conditions. Its central technique is bilateral stimulation: eye movements, taps, or tones that alternate left and right while you briefly recall a troubling memory. The hope is that the memory can be reprocessed so it is held with less intensity. You can read more in Jeremy's explanation of how EMDR works.
Early appointments gather your history and set goals. After that come resourcing and stabilization skills, which Jeremy deliberately extends when Complex PTSD is involved. Processing begins only when you have that base, and it moves at a tolerable speed. Final phases focus on reinforcing what has changed. Responses vary widely, there are no guarantees, and Jeremy will be honest with you along the way.
Besides weekly therapy, Authentic Answers offers EMDR intensives, extended sessions held over one or more days.
